James Arnette

Golden LivingCenter – Lumberton
James Arnette has worked as a CNA for Golden LivingCenter –
Lumberton since 1978. In this position, he takes care of the
facility’s residents and patients. Because of his tenure, he also
provides much guidance to the younger staff on premises.
He feels that open-mindedness is key to success in his field,
especially when it comes to learning new things. “I’ve worked here
for more than 30 years,” says James, “and things have changed a lot
in that time. Without an open mind you can’t keep up with it. You
have to always want to learn and listen.”
More than anything, James values the friendships he’s made with
his facility’s residents over the years, some of which have
stretched beyond a decade in length.
“I like to sit there and share a conversation with them, make
them laugh, make them talk, make them enjoy where they’re at,” he
says. “Sometimes, you have to be there for them because they don’t
have someone else to talk to. I like taking care of them. I’ve been
doing it for more than 30 years, and it’s my life.”
